When you type "chest tightness and fatigue" into a search engine, the algorithm returns a ranked list of pages based on popularity, keyword density, and engagement metrics. It has no knowledge of your age, your family history, your stress level this month, or the fact that you mentioned your symptoms started three days after you began a new medication. It treats every searcher as identical.
A physician, by contrast, begins narrowing possibilities the moment you walk through the door. Before you have finished describing your chief complaint, your doctor has already registered your apparent age, your affect, whether you appear short of breath at rest, and a dozen other data points that never appear in a text field. This is not intuition in the mystical sense.
